Beyond the Stage students are an integral part of bringing this production to life. From building sets and designing costumes to running lights and sound, every student plays a real role in making the show happen.

Rehearsal Timeline & Expectations

Rehearsals begin in September and run through opening night in December. Students are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsal sessions for their crew or design area.

Each student will be assigned to a specific production role — stage crew, costume, make-up, set, or tech — based on their interests and class enrollment. Commitment to the full rehearsal process is part of the experience.

Students should come prepared, ready to collaborate, and excited to learn. This is hands-on, real-world theater production — and the show depends on every member of the team.

There's a Place for Every Kind of Theater Kid

Not every child who loves theater wants to be in the spotlight — and that's exactly the point. NoCo Theatrix's Beyond the Stage classes open up the full world of live production, giving students hands-on experience with the crafts and technical skills that make every show possible.

Whether your child is drawn to the artistry of costume design, the precision of stage combat, or the behind-the-scenes magic of set construction and lighting, there is a class here for them. These programs build real-world skills in creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and technical thinking.

Beyond the Stage Classes

Stage Crew

Learn the ropes — literally. Students explore the technical side of live theater: rigging, fly systems, prop management, and the coordination that keeps every show running smoothly.

Stage Make-Up

From character transformations to special effects, students learn how make-up tells a story and brings a character to life under stage lighting.

Costume Design

Explore the art of dressing a production — from sketching designs to sourcing fabrics and constructing pieces that define a character's world.

Stage Combat

A safe, choreographed approach to fight scenes and physical storytelling. Students learn technique, timing, and how to make dramatic action look real on stage.

Set Design

Discover how a blank stage becomes a world. Students explore the principles of scenic design, model-making, and the visual language of theatrical space.

Technical Theater

Lighting, sound, and stage management — the backbone of every production. Students gain foundational skills in the technical systems that power live performance.
